Create A New Year's Eve Table Setting With Christmas Leftovers!

Everyone overbuys at Christmas. "It's better to have too much than not enough" being echoed far and wide in supermarkets across the land, leading up to the 25th. Yet, I feel guilty as Christmas also turns into the season of waste as uneaten fruit and veg go off, decorations get discarded and stuff with still a bit of life in it gets binned as it no longer serves a purpose. That's why my blog post to you today lovely readers is all about how to create a glam New Year’s Eve party table setting with all your leftover Christmas bits and bobs!

Discover innovative ways to create a glamorous New Year's Eve table setting using Christmas leftovers. This guide offers creative repurposing ideas, showing you how to revamp your festive decor into a stunning NYE display. Learn how this sustainable approach can elevate your celebration when you buy vases online to complete a chic, eco-friendly tablescape.”

USING LEFT OVER FRUIT AS DINNER CANDLE HOLDERS:

I don't know what it is, but there always seems to be a full fruit bowl at Xmas. I remember my mum always saying "Oh, someone might like a bit of fruit on Xmas day." But of course they don't, no-one wants to snack on fruit at Xmas, everyone wants cheese and chocolate. Cue one sad-looking full fruit bowl still sky-high after Xmas and Boxing Day. Rather than let fruit go off, use them as colourful candle holders for your dining candles. Simply core out the top half of the apple core with a peeler, then squash in your candle! (It's worth noting that you should make sure your apples are bottom-heavy so they stand upright. If you aren't 100% sure they will stay up, use a mini command strip on the table to keep them from toppling over).

USE NICE LEFT OVER WRAPPING PAPER AS A TABLE RUNNER:

Every year I put the left over wrapping paper from the year before up in the loft for next year, then forget there is any up there and just buy new paper anyway. Use this years leftover paper instead by taking any nice paper and using it as a table runner. If you don't have any wrapping paper left, use left over wallpaper like I've done here!

REUSE THE BAUBLES & POM POMS:

Load them up on and around the table to create a colourful party vibe.

REFRESH YOUR CHRISTMAS FLORAL CENTREPIECE:

If you made or had a floral centrepiece for Xmas, if you kept the oasis watered then the foliage should still be going strong. Remove the 'christmassy' or dead flowers and add in vibrant, dramatic flowers for your dinner party.

CREATE CUTE NYE FAVOURS WITH LEFT OVER CHOCOLATES & PRESENT TOPPERS:

These little bells are left over present toppers. I've used them on favour boxes to create a 'Ring In The New Year' theme. Inside the favour boxes are left over Quality Street! Place a box at each setting.

If you don't have any bells or favour boxes but want to create this idea, now is the best time to buy them as all left over Xmas stuff in the shops is often less than half price! Follow my simple guide below - you will need the following:

To make the labels I created a template to print off and stick on the favour boxes. If you'd like this 'Ring In The New Year' template simply sign up to my mailing list between now and New Years Day and I'll email you the PDF!

Cut out my templates and stick them on the front of a flat favour box (you can get these online or in craft stores). Punch a hole in the corner of the box, then fold it together on the far side. Attach the mini bell with twine and push the knot into the box. Pop in your Quality Street and close up the box and voila!

USE YOUR LEFT OVER HERBS & WRAPPING ITEMS TO CREATE FESTIVE NAPKIN DISPLAYS:

Left over rosemary from the potatoes? Tons of twine left from wrapping? Use them to make these pretty napkin displays.

WASH OUT YOUR EMPTY CHUTNEY JARS TO CREATE GLIMMERING TEA LIGHT HOLDERS:

Rather than immediately recycle empty jars from Christmas, wash them out and decorate them with raffia and left over present toppers!

All ready to party using left over Xmas items, but it doesn't look like left overs does it?

What decor will you be creating for NYE? Let me know in the comments below!
