Create A Pretty Easter Display With Painted Branches & Hanging John Lewis Decorations

The Easter Bank Holiday falls three weeks later than last year for 2017, so its after the school holidays. For those of you with children to entertain, or for those of you with dogs to walk, I thought I'd share with you my 'Easy Easter Tree'. This tree costs virtually nothing to make, but provides a beautiful focal point in your home over the Easter break. All you need is a bit of branch collecting and some left over white paint!

When a sunny spring afternoon came around I gathered up the family for a long dog walk in Epping forest. Each family member was instructed to find a couple of strong, straight branches to make the Easter tree with. Luckily with Storm Doris having visited a few weeks prior, there was not a lack of scattered branches on the floor of the woods to choose from!

My king Charles Cavalier was happy to help collect sticks for the tree...

We returned with the below pile of branches that I then trimmed down to a similar height with garden secateurs. I also cut off any buds that had started to develop (or whispy twiggy bits) so the branches looked tidy.

I had some white spray paint left over from another project, so I spray painted my branches white by laying them outside on an old towel to protect the floor. If you do not have any white spray paint, get a paintbrush and any left over white paint (pure brilliant white emulsion, or any ceiling paint works well) and give the branches a couple of coats until there is no brown wood visible.

Once dry, pop your branches in a tall vase in the area they are to be displayed, and evenly distribute hanging Easter decorations.

I absolutely love seasonal decor, and always like to visit my favourite stores just before seasonal celebrations start to see what they have stocked each year. My absolute go-to place for seasonal interior items is John Lewis. John Lewis always seem to get that balance of chic, classy decorations you'd want to display in your home, without the price-tag being really expensive.

This beautiful box of 12 decorative eggs is only £8

My favourite hanging decorations from John Lewis this year are these Hanging Easter Egg set pack of 6, which contain four pastel coloured eggs, one floral egg and a pink stripy egg, all for £4 for the lot!

The hinged hanging glass eggs were another favourite that I purchased for my Easter tree from John Lewis. They are almost vintage in style and you can open them up and store in Easter goodies - from chocolates to decorative Easter chicks.
