On My Radar: Homeware For Spring

Last month, I was out and about a lot at brand press shows and interior events and I spotted a number of homeware bits that I absolutely loved and were perfect for small spring updates at home. Some pieces were new; others, not so, but the design, colour or price point caught my eye. Regardless of their appeal, I snapped them on my phone and today on the blog I’ve rounded them up into a list of 27 brilliant buys for spring/summer 2023!

  1. The new HAY wall clocks have been designed by Jasper Morrison; the main appeal is the excellent range of colours they come in. This pale blue/white/ yellow one is my favourite. Purchase via Liberty London.

  2. New for spring 2023, these hand-woven Kente cushions by Golden Editions support the traditional weavers of Ghana. Purchase from Heal’s.

  3. Bobbins are such a huge trend right now and unless you DIY, bobbin picture frames can be pretty expensive to purchase. High street retailer M&S has come to the rescue by selling these spring yellow bobbin photo frames for only £12.50 each.

  4. This textured pouffe from Dunelm is such a great buy. It comes in a variety of colours, but spring green is the best shade. They also sell great-value cushions in the same material.

  5. A designer look with a high street price tag, this marble lamp with on-trend conical shade is £85 from NEXT.

  6. I’m a sucker for a good candle with a strong scent so I’m currently using ‘Bookworm’ and ‘Sunseeker’ from the Paul Smith Home Fragrance range at home. Both come in light-reflecting coloured glass vessels, making them summery additions to a shelf or occasional table. Purchase via Selfridges.

  7. I love a good interiors coffee table book and Own Your Zone by London author Ruth Matthews is one of the best to recently be released. Lots of interesting pictures accompany guidance and advice on maximising style and space within the modern home. Order via Amazon.

8. A chunky candlestick in a buttery, muted yellow that is perfect for the spring table. Purchase it via M&S.

9. I recently saw this Minnie-Mae hand-painted candle on a stand dressed by Lamp London at an event promoting the Spring Fair in Chelsea (which coincides with the Flower Show in May). It’s exclusive to Lamp London and you can buy it here.

10. My favourite independent textile brand Sophia Frances Studio is now selling their cheery stripy cushions via Anthropologie.

11. H&M Home this week has offered up an affordable version of the much-desired wavy-edged mirrors. Get one in green or black for just £49.99.

12. As Laura Ashley celebrates its 70th year, they have reissued this print which was an original design from the ’70s. Trefoil is available as wallpaper or fabric now via NEXT.

13. I’m a sucker for a portable lamp and this modern one from Kartell is a new favourite (available in multiple colour options). Get it from Heal’s via ufurnish.

14. This bobbin table is amazing value from NEXT.

15, The best buy from Matthew Williamson’s latest collection for John Lewis & Partners - this stripy lamp is designer with a high street price tag.

16. Heal’s are brilliant for working with new and upcoming designers. These yellow and pink-lined mugs from modern East London-based brand LF Markey are £12 each.

17. Not a new design - this Carl Hanson & Son Sideways Sofa won a design award in 2021 - but the first time I laid eyes on it was this week in the new Heal’s extended showroom opening (they now occupy the empty space once belonging to Habitat on Tottenham Court Road). It’s such a beauty and I especially love it upholstered in this soft pink fabric.

18. A recent purchase for me in my home - I’m using these hand-painted lemon plates from Harlie Brown Studio for spring and summer dining. Available via Heal’s.

19. Nothing says spring like florals! London-based Print Sisters re-discover archive prints and produce them as artwork for the home.

20. These Accessorize scallop trays have been so popular in the past year. I saw the green version used to display trinkets at the Spring Fair and it’s such a versatile styling product to use at home.

21. This footstool is such a clever design - turn the top over and there’s a tray attached to the underside (while the base provides ample storage). Available from NEXT.

22. A designer look at a high street price - this bobble vase is from M&S.

23. Another excellent coffee table book - this time from Camper enthusiast Dee Campling. Her book looks at the interiors of a number of very stylish campers - each design is thrillingly unique.

24. A bargain scallop-edged woven basket from Matalan.

25. This bobbin lamp is a great value buy from NEXT and is easy to hack with some gloss paint. I’m going to get one and spray the base green!

26. Totally not a new item, but I first saw this Ercol Butterfly chair in this red stain last week and it was love at first sight. Available from Heal’s.

27. The ultimate summer tumbler - this Late Afternoon terrazzo water jug is a beautiful addition to any table. Available from Heal’s.
