Take A Look At This Beautiful Mid-Century Style Wood Kitchen By deVOL

I do love an interesting kitchen design which feels homely and inviting and vastly differs from the more mainstream kitchens which usually feature shaker cabinets and streamlined appearances. This mid-century style wood Haberdasher’s kitchen from kitchen manufacturers deVOL features handcrafted fluted oak cupboards paired with off-white walls and pink marble countertops for a nostalgic look that is full of personality and character.

The interior design is by Good Bones Shop (designer Leanne shares her very own insta-famous kitchen on her personal account @goodboneslondon), who installed deVOL’s Haberdasher’s Kitchen in this London home in East Sheen after the clients requested the look and feel of an unfitted kitchen where pieces could be added to or moved around as their needs changed. Therefore, there is no central island and the cabinetry does not run wall-to-wall. Instead, there is just one line of the fluted units (separated by a bright white Lacanche cooker) and on the opposite side of the room sits a large dining table and vintage chapel chairs which do not obstruct the beautiful view out onto the garden.

Lighting plays a key part in this kitchen design; as well as task lighting from wall lights and deVOL’s creamware lights used pendant lighting over the table, lamps are also placed on the worktop and floor lamps are positioned in the freed-up corners to add atmosphere.

Pretty soft pink veined Paonazzo marble is used for the worktop and continues up the wall as a splashback with curved-edge detailing. I particularly like the use of leftover offcuts of the marble to create open shelving with gold brackets. This is something that I have done before in my own home, having visited local stone yards to purchase cheap marble offcuts that would otherwise be wasted to create pretty display shelving.

The classic marble chequerboard floor features tiles from Mandarin Stone and everything is kept light and bright with warm creamy walls painted in Lime White by Farrow & Ball.

Prices for the Haberdasher’s Kitchen from deVOL start at £30,000. Visit the deVOL website for more information.
