I'm Melanie and I live east of London, right by beautiful Epping Forest with my husband and young son Jaxon.
This blog started in March 2016 and has evolved quite a lot in that time. When I launched it we had just moved house, I was jobless after taking redundancy at 8 months pregnant and I needed to be clever when it came to furnishing it. The blog started simply as a documentation of designing my house with DIY and on a budget, but as life has moved on and my love of interiors and knowledge around furnishing my own home has grown, I now focus less on writing about budget interiors and more about what excites me in decor (that could be a £14.99 lamp I picked up in Homesense, or a £150 roll of wallpaper).
What has not changed is my love of DIY and a 'give-it-a-go' attitude. I try not to hire tradespeople if I think I could do it myself (sharing these experiences along the way on this blog). My blog is less of a 'how to' and more of a 'I gave this a try - this is how it went.' DIY is the best way to save money when decorating your home, and I hope to inspire others to try it for themselves with simple hacks, tips, design ideas and guides to the tools required.
This blog is also big on colour. I love colour in my interiors which mainly include blues, greens, pinks, burgundy tones and lilacs. I'm also not shy of a snazzy wallpaper and heavy patterns. You can check out all my before & after reveals to see how I have brought statement colours to the magnolia walls we inherited.
I'll often collaborate with brands on the blog but the product has to be something I love, a clever concept, or a great way to transform your home. All reviews are honest.
Thank you for reading! I really do appreciate it.
Love Melanie xx
