Scalloped Pink Showerwall Panel En-Suite Reveal!!

When we moved into this house four years ago we inherited what I called ‘The Most Boring Bathroom In The World’. This en-suite is off a room in the basement that we use as my office / guest bedroom. It was adorned in the most basic, large white tiles and had an ivory-coloured window. I tried to add a large picture and a few accessories in here, but it didn’t really make much of a difference to how good it looked! The ceiling constantly peeled even though the shower was only used about twice a month, then when all the tiles started to crack it started looking even worse! I investigated whether we needed to look into some basement waterproofing, before considering the new design scheme.
After living with the plain white tiles, I really wanted this bathroom to be one block colour. Still being in love with my fish-scale tiles on my kitchen splashback one year on, I decided to go for Showerwall’s custom option and have a scallop design in pink printed on durable, glass-like acrylic. I would then paint the rest of the room pink to match the panels.
So, without further delay, here is the BIG REVEAL:
I had builders install these panels for me and they removed the old tiles, made sure the walls were flat and level and then stuck on the panels using Showerwall’s mega-grab adhesive. As this room is very small and the walls were wonky, they decided that this was the best plan of action. However, Showerwall panels can be stuck over existing tiles, so if you are not short on space and your tiled wall is flat then you can simply stick panels over the top.
Where corners met, a thin strip of silicone was applied to the acrylic to keep it watertight. My builder used a pink-coloured silicone to match the panels. Where panels joined together on the wall, there is a very faint line where they meet (like wallpaper). However, as the panels can be printed 1220mm wide x 2400mm high, there are only a couple of joins in my bathroom. The whole room is easy to maintain and fuss-free. I just use a damp cloth and wipe it along the panels when needed!
Huge thank you to Showerwall for collaborating with me on this en-suite reveal. Thank you also to Barbican Property Services who carried out the building work and Kohler UK for supplying new fixtures & fittings.
