The Best Teal Coloured Paints To Decorate Your Home With

2018 is all about maximalism, luxury, and cocooning comfort. In my blog post last week I talked about how peacocks - and the beautiful teal colours associated with them - are set to be a big thing in interiors and decor this year.

A client that I am currently working with wanted their hallway painted in a beautiful teal colour. Because of this, the past few weeks I have been researching and testing out numerous teal emulsion paints. I thought I would share with you the best of the teal colours that I found on my hunt for that perfect teal shade - just in case you were thinking of going totally teal in your own home!

This press picture above for Little Greene's Mid-Azure Green has always stopped me in my tracks so I had to get a sample of this deep-green teal to try. Even though it looks lighter in the tester pot the result is very dark, so if you want a teal on the darker side for a dramatic interior, this is the teal for you!

For a much more blue teal, Teal Tension by Dulux may be for you. It's a cheaper option than some of the other teals listed here, but the paint is thinner so make sure you protect your floors from any drips with the appropriate plastic sheeting.

One of the newer colours from Farrow & Ball, this vibrant teal has been really popular and is the perfect balance of blue and green. If you are looking for shade of teal that feels quite modern, then this is the teal for you.

This is the teal out of all the teals tested that my clients and I went for. A luxuriously thick paint in a gorgeous shade, this teal (which is slightly more green than blue) gave great coverage with only 2 coats required on a previously bright white wall. The most expensive option at £52 for a 2.5L tin (in wipeable architects matt), I actually thought it was well worth the money.

I first set eyes on this lighter, less intense teal when Bianca from French For Pineapple colour-washed her TV room in it (see picture below). By painting the ceiling, woodwork, radiators and windows all in the same teal shade, Bianca created a room that feels warm and welcoming. This teal is much less intense than the other shades and feels a lot lighter ( if you are a bit scared of the richness of other teal shades).

Out of the selection of Blue Diamond teals Dulux offers, number 3 is the best option. The perfect sea-blue teal, if you want a teal that feels warm rather than makes a statement, then this is the teal for you!
