The Best New Interior Buys For Autumn

bedfolk cotton quilt

I generally always like a small change up at home to reflect a change of season, but in pandemic-fuelled 2020, the urge to make some minor interior changes is monumental. My cushions are flat and tea-stained after another evening staying in watching TV. Side tables are covered in crayon from home schooling. Plus, I’m quite bored at looking at the same decorative items day in, day out. A few new interior pick-me-ups are just what the decor doctor ordered, so I’ve picked out the best new interior buys that have been released for AW20, as the temperature drops and we settle down to stay at home for another 6 months.

The Cotton Quilt by Bedfolk

Bedding brand Bedfolk has quickly gained notoriety with their quality 100% cotton / 100% linen bedding bundles and sheets. The husband and wife team spent 12 months perfecting the ultimate bedding essentials, which are free from harmful chemicals, ethically created and expertly woven. This month they release The Cotton Quilt, made from 100% cotton with a part recycled poly batting fill. Its medium weight means that it can be used to layer the end of the bed, while it also provides major snug-ability for the sofa on a rainy autumn day. Most importantly, it is washing machine and tumble dryer friendly and has a cotton-crush look (so no ironing necessary).

Sowden Kettle and Toasters By HAY

Chances are that your humble kitchen appliances are overused now that you are making your own multiple cups tea and coffee, rather than buying it on the go. Brighten up your kitchen and bring a bit of colour to breakfast time with the new Sowden range of kettles and toasters by HAY. This is the first foray into electrical appliances by the Danish design brand and it is a total winner. Designed by George Sowden, the retro colourways of burgundy, mint, yellow and brown are accompanied with a simple, unfussy design, void of multiple buttons and unrequired functions. Choose from four kettle and three kettle colour combinations.

Arch Vase via Rose & Grey

A great way to embrace autumn is to bring in more rusty reds and browns into the home, so the Arch Vase in Clay by Rose & Grey is a budget-friendly way to inject this season’s colour palette. This vase is part of the new AW20 collection for the furniture and home accessory brand, which also includes arched candles in similar earthy tones.

Elegant Storage Solutions From Ferm Living

Kitchen utensils bursting out of a drawer that will not close and lockdown laundry piled high? Get organised this autumn with stylish storage solutions from Ferm Living. The functional Danish design brand is brilliant at creating attractive versions of often ugly, but necessary, household items (their shower curtain is literally the only shower curtain worth owning). For AW20, some of the best new pieces in the collection include a toolbox in tonal olive green, plus a tall and slender braided laundry basket.

Use the oval Ferm Living toolbox to store oils and kitchen utensils all in one aesthetically pleasing place.

Luxury Hand Sanitiser

It was only going to be a matter of time before opulent, fragrant hand sanitiser was available as an alternative to the basic sanitiser brands found in the supermarket. Now an essential item for all of us, Amara has just started to stock Puritx: an organic plant alcohol sanitiser that is kind to the hands as well as still killing 99.9% of bacteria. Place it on the hallway console table as a stylish addition for use as soon as you walk in the door.

Cord Cushions From Dunelm

Switch up old cushions for something fresh and new with these budget-friendly pastel cord cushions, new in at Dunelm. I’m quite a fan of Dunelm cushions and the curvy shape of these in tactile cord are very modern Scandi.

New Wallpaper by Linwood

While seasonal decor should be transitional, small additions, I couldn’t resist including this new wallpaper collection released this month from Hampshire-based family business Linwood. Bursting full of colour with rich, tropical scenes and landscape depictions, there are seven new designs within the collection.

Discover the new wallpapers on the Linwood website.
