The Next Big Home Decor Trends for 2024 (as predicted by Pinterest!)
While those ‘hot or not’ or ‘in and out’ home decor trend predictions have had their day for being snobby and completely unsustainable, there is no denying that interior trends continue to exist as there will always be a particular pattern, style or colour that is very ‘of the moment.’ I actually really enjoy looking at forthcoming trend predictions for the year ahead and one of my recent favourite ways to analyse them is via Pinterest. As Pinterest is a search platform their trend insights are based on data (rather than the opinion of the ‘design elite’). With over 482 million users, at the end of each year, Pinterest scans their popular pins and looks for huge jumps in increased search results to present their ‘Pinterest Predicts’ report: an insight into future trends and an account of what people will be buying next. For 2024, Pinterest has predicted several home decor looks that we should expect to see in shops and all over our social media this year (previous predictions included chequerboard patterns and curvy furniture), so here is a glimpse into what we can expect:
Bow Aesthetic:
I don’t think this is going to be a surprise to anyone considering how mad everyone went for bows at Christmas. While the backlash is already starting against ‘bows on everything,’ bow shapes and prints will adorn many home decor items within 2024 as the search for ‘bow aesthetic’ is up 55% on Pinterest.

Loud & proud silver and chrome
It has been a long time coming; brass has consistently dominated as the preferred metal finish for homeware but 2024 is the predicted year that polished silver and chrome come out on top. Searches for ‘aluminium furniture’ are up 45% and there are a whole host of lovely pieces available to purchase right now in super-shiny silver tones.

Western Gothic
Darker paint colours are back; rather than the inky tones of ‘Hague Blue’ or grey of ‘Downpipe’, this time around dark decor will all be about rich chocolate shades and brown-black hues. Pair these paint colours with ornate mirrors and edgy accessories to completely embody the Pinterest trend of Western Gothic.
This rich dark brown - one of the nine new colours from the Sweet Treats collection by Little Greene - is the perfect backdrop for the Western Gothic trend.
Kitschens
No doubt you’ll have seen these pastel-pop kitchens all over Instagram in 2023; love them or loathe them, they are here to stay for 2024. The look is all about having a ‘non-kitcheny kitchen’: silver and black appliances are rejected in favour of jarringly bright retro shades and colourful cookware. Searches for ‘Eccentric kitchen’ are up 160% and the appeal is that there is a huge DIY aspect involved, with kitschen fans using specialist appliance and cabinet paint to get the bright and breezy look on a budget.

Coffee Stations
The search term ‘home coffee bar styling’ is up a whopping 1125% as ‘coffee station decor’ and ‘kafe aesthetic’ become the new ‘must-have’ area of the home. While those renovating or redoing their kitchens are installing dedicated coffee stations within pop-open pantries, a coffee station can also be an allocated area or your worktop or countertop, styled with an espresso machine and a hanging rod for your favourite coffee cups.
